A group of middle schoolers is determined to protect their town from vampires in “The Vanquishers”

We've talked in here before about just how hard it is to get the voice right for a middle grade novel. Like ages 8-13 itself, it is so important to navigate the humor and ups and downs of late elementary and middle school in a way that is both realistic and fun. That's why we were intrigued when copies of Kalynn Bayron's "The Vanquishers" landed on our doorsteps a short while ago. The author of the young adult novels "This Wicked Fate" and "This Poison Heart" (among many others), Bayron now turns her love of the spooky and the supernatural with the story of Malika "Boog" Wilson and her set of friends.
