“Mohawk Girls” (Peacock)

Mohawk Girls on Peacock, 4 Mohawk women in front of a body of water

‘Mohawk Girls’ bills itself as the Native ‘Sex And The City.’ Luckily, it's so much more than that.

November is Native American Heritage Month and we decided to celebrate by checking out a buzzy sitcom that is finding a new audience thanks to the magic of the streaming era.

Director Tracey Deer first got the idea for "Mohawk Girls" -- the Canadian comedy now available on Peacock -- while making a feature-length documentary about three teenage-girls growing up in the Kahnawake Mohawk community back in the early aughts.
