One of the most interesting things about getting to read so many books geared towards middle grade readers -- who are usually ages 8-12 --- is getting to experience so many stories about middle schoolers as they first learn to find their voices and realize how the rules and policies created by the grown ups in their lives and in their cities, states, and countries affect them.
