While we decided to review this week's book well before we kicked off our unofficial 'Spooky October' theme, Ava Barry's "Double Exposure" manages to still fit the bill due to its L.A. noir style and often surprising twists.

Released earlier this month, "Double Exposure" introduces readers to private detective Rainey Hall -- a former child prodigy from a famous family who decided to set out on her own as an investigator after a mysterious tragedy rips her family apart.
